Tip 1
Most importantly ensure your Caravan or Motorhome is clean and fresh for winter storage. In the Thetford range there are three products to help with this.
a) Thetford Bathroom Cleaner to use on all plastics. Spray with bathroom cleaner, then wipe the surfaces with a soft dry cloth to give is a nice glossy finish.
b) Toilet Bowl Cleaner - Use inside the toilet bowl to clean and freshen
c) Cassette Tank Cleaner - Clean the waste holding tank periodically with this to sanitise.
Tip 2
Do not leave water in your tanks, this applies to freshwater, grey waste and black water tanks
Tip 3 Ventilation
It's recommended to leave the blade open on the cassette toilet to prevent damages to the blade. Then loosen the cap on the pour out spout, this help ventilate the waste-holding tank. By leaving the blade open, you will prevent the blade rubber seal from drying out.
Tip 4 Maintenance of the Rubber
The recommendation is use Thetford Seal Lubricant to spray the seals and waste holding tank blades. This should be done on a regular basis and before storage. The product has been specially formulated for Thetford toilet, also safe to use on door seals, locks and hinges etc.
Tip 5 Refrigerator
To prevent odours and mould in the refrigerator, keep the doors to your fridge and freezer partially open using the catches provided, during the winter storage period
