Summer Holidays, Getting back to Nature

Updated: Nov 28, 2019

The schools will soon be breaking up for the summer holidays, so why not get our caravan, motorhome or tents out, aired and checked ready to spend a few weeks camping.

There are many beautiful campsites around the U.K, where you can relax and enjoy nature. Why not check out Camping in the Forest, they have a number of sites in The New Forest, Forest of Dean, Savernake Forest, Loch Lomond and Aviemore.

One of our favourites is Setthorns Campsite, which is set in the New Forest. You can pitch up in a beautiful forest setting amongst pines and oakes. There is plenty of space between pitches, the staff are friendly and very helpful. When you book in at reception there are a number of leaflets available about places to visit and activities. There are no shower or toilet blocks at this site so you should take your own chemical toilet.

The New Forest ponies roam through the site along with dear and other wild life.

There are plenty of paths for walking and cycling so you can enjoy views of the Forest which you won't see from a car.

The site is close to the villages of Sway and Brokenhurst, there are pubs, restaurants and craft shops locally. The seaside resort of Barton on Sea and Bournemouth are a short drive away.

Other places to visit are the New Forest Reptile Centre, Hurst Castle and Lighthouse, Beaulieu Motor Museum, the Red House Museum and gardens which is a must for those interested in archaeology or geology.

During the Autumn the pigs are also allowed to roam, to eat the fallen acorns, all year round you will see cattle, donkeys and ponies roaming through the forest and villages.
